Russian tradition since 1795 from the factory Pavlov Posad

Cape towels became fashionable in Russia at the beginning of the 19th Century in various strata of Russian society. The towels were used as a festive addition to female clothing, as ornaments for the secular and ecclesiastical, and even for sewing clothes and priest vestments. Cape towels were valued very high, stored, inherited or bequeathed to the church.

Towards the middle of the 19 th century expensive scarves gradually gave way to those with printed patterns. These lightweight, warm and ornate scarves captivated not only by their beautiful design but also by its low price.

The manufacture of Pavlov Posad is a leader in production of traditional russian scarves since the end of the 19th century, works well today and is the only company of its kind in Russia. Today the manufacture of Pavlov Posad produces about 200 items of cape towels and scarves, mostly made of fine wool but also made of cotton.

Apart from matryoshka from Sergiyev Posad and dishes from the Chochloma shawls from Pavlov Posad are perceived as of one of the national symbols of Russia.
